Water glasses, rattan trim – set of 6

Six clear glass tumblers, each one fitted with a band of woven rattan at the base. The rattan warms the hand; the clear glass shows what is poured. At 12.5 cm tall, they sit comfortably in the grip, neither too tall nor squat. The contrast between smooth glass and woven texture is where the beauty lives.

Functional and honest in their making. They will gather water rings and fingerprints over time—that is part of living with them. Not for the dishwasher; a quick hand wash keeps them new.

• Clear glass with woven rattan detail, 9 × 9 × 12.5 cm each
